Wakeham
Another very warm day and some good highlights this afternoon with a Small Heath, a Red Admiral and a female Common Darter along the track, and then further along in the Private Nature Reserve there were 2 Stock Doves, the latter the first I have seen here in Wakeham.
In amongst the 100's of grasshoppers I came across a Speckled Bush-cricket.
Here are a few images from today:
Looking back down the track towards the gate at Wakeham and along here there was.........
..........this female Common Darter
Its not often you can get this close, but I was only a few inches away when I took this photo.
Its not surprising to see a few battered Gatekeepers. There have and still are good numbers of these butterflies, so a few worn ones are beginning to show.
I'm beginning to wonder whether we have had a new emergence of Meadow Browns. There were certainly a few around today.
One of 5 Common Blues in the meadows and along the track.
And there are still dozens of Six-Spot Burnet moths about.
A pair of Swollen-thighed Beetles. The male is on the right.
A Common Red Soldier Beetle
A male Speckled Bush-cricket
A Marmalade Hoverfly at rest and.....
........taking off. You can just about see the wings angled for lift off.
And an Amblyteles armatorius Parasitic Wasp.
