Still plenty of Chiffchaffs in and around the cove this morning, including one singing. Also here a female Black Redstart and a record 45 Rock Pipits, with the latter feeding on the millions of Kelp Flies.
It appears that the Wrens which were pretty numerous on the beach over the Winter have now set there territories behind the cove with at least 4 singing males.
Elsewhere there was Wall Lizard at the lookout by Rufus Castle and the Common Green Shieldbug in its usual spot in Penns Wood.
Here are a few images from today:
This seems to be the 'hot spot' for the Chiffchaffs at the moment. It's quite sheltered providing plenty of insects for these Spring migrants.
A few Chiffchaff photos ......
Another
And another
Last one.
Not sure if this is a new bird or not.
If it is this the 4th female Black Redstart to visit the cove over the past few months.
Just one of the record 45 Rock Pipits here on the beach today. And you can see why, with millions of Kelp Flies to feed on.
The 'resident' Robin guards the beach.
The male Wrens were in good voice today.
And this individual was no exception. So loud, especially for a small bird.
The sun did come out briefly and was obviously warm enough for this Wall Lizard to make an appearance by Rufus Castle.
And the 'resident' Common Green Shieldbug in its usual spot in Penns Wood.
