Penns Wood and Church Ope Cove

It appears there was a bit of movement last night with at least 13 Chiffchaffs at the cove this afternoon. And I wouldn't be surprised if there were even more, that passed me by.

Other than the Chiffchaffs there was very little else to report as the gale force winds whipped across the island.

A Kestrel was quite interested in the Chiffchaffs and swooped in above them and sat in a tree watching. after a minute or so he moved on to perhaps easier targets. If it had been a Sparrowhawk I don't think it would have thought twice about crashing into the bushes to pick a bird off.

Elsewhere there were 2 Goldcrests in Penns Wood.

Here are a few Chiffchaff and Kestrel images from this afternoon:

Church Ope Cove

This where the majority of Chiffchaffs were this afternoon from the beach all the way up to Rufus Castle.

The local Kestrel swoops in and............
