Old Quarry Lane and Wakeham Meadows

It felt like the lull before the storm this evening, as the humidity levels rose and clouds began to roll in from the west. Today's temperatures hit 26 in the shade, to hot for a walk, so Ted and I waited until just after 7:30pm before we ventured out.

I was going to say that there were no highlights, especially so late in the day, but what a surprise I had with 3 pristine Chalkhill Blues flying about in the meadow.

29 Jul 24

Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows and Wakeham Wildlife Site

After a very hot day, Ted and I finally got to go on a walk around 6:30pm. It was still pretty warm, but not that oppressive heat which Ted would certainly not have enjoyed.

Unsurprisingly there were no real highlights, apart from dozens of micro-moths which annoyingly I just couldn't keep up with to get a photograph.

This is one of the Miridae family and possibly Acetropis gimmerthalii. There is no Common name for this species, but in Sweden it is called Sydlig Gräns Ängsskinnbagge which in English translates to Southern Border Meadow Skink Beetle. Sadly as I can't ID it from this photo it will have to remain as miridae sp. Great shame as I love the Swedish name.
