Out and About

It was a trip to the groom room today, for Benji and Ted, and whilst they were there I took the opportunity to have a walk around a couple or so locations.

The first stop was Bincleaves Cove here, where I recorded:
Great Crested Grebe - 1
Gannet - 2
Cormorant -3
Shag 2
Dark-bellied Brent Goose - 1 flew across the harbour from east to west
Red-breasted Merganser - 2
Herring Gull
Wood Pigeon
Pied Wagtail 1
Grey Wagtail - 1
Dunnock
Robin
Blackbird - 1
Great Tit
Magpie
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
House Sparrow
Chaffinch - 1
Goldfinch 4

Next Stop was Ferrybridge where there were
Cormorant - 1
Dark-bellied Brent Geese - 8 just arriving as the tide was on the way out
Red-breasted Merganser - 1 by the jetty
Dunlin - 50+ on the sandflats
Herring Gull
Kingfisher - 1 flew across the beach road to the harbour.
Starling - 100+ by the Chesil Beach Visitors Centre
House Sparrow - In the bushes by the Crab House Restaurant

A drake Red-breasted Merganser.........................

....................has a stretch in The Fleet

A few of the 50+ Dunlin on the sandflats with two Herring Gulls.


And the third stop was Small Mouth Cove where there were:
Oystercatcher - 1
Herring Gull
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
Starling
House Sparrow

Greenfinch - 20+

Just under half of the Greenfinches around Small Mouth Cove.

On the way back home a Kestrel was seen hovering alongside Portland Beach Road.

Ships Today:

On the left is the Liberian Heavy Load Carrier "Xiang An Kou" and on the right is the Maltese Crude Oil Tanker "Ghat", both anchored up in Weymouth Bay. More on "Xiang An Kou" here and "Ghat" here.
