Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows, Wakeham Wildlife Site, Perryfield Quarry Butterfly Reserve, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penn's Weare, Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle, Silklake Quarry and Bumpers Lane

It is still pretty cold out, with the temperature still hovering around 0.0°C, though I hear that is about to change from Sunday onwards, with temperatures reaching double figures. However it does mean there will be strong winds and rain again.

There were quite few highlights today:
Grey Heron - A single bird being mobbed by the local Herring Gulls as it flew over Wakeham (A first on Portland this year.)
Rock Pipit - Two on the beach including a leg ringed individual.
Pied Wagtail - Two on the beach
Robin - Numbers reached over a dozen along my walk, including 5 around the cove.
Stonechat - The overwintering pair are still present at the cove.
Black Redstart - The fem/juv still remains at the cove.
Chiffchaff - One feeding on the beach and a second bird catching insects around the beach huts. Goldcrest - One just below St Andrew's Church

A Grey Heron is seen off by the local Herring Gulls.

If I hadn't photographed this Rock Pipit, I would have just passed it off as the individual with the black plastic leg ring with AAL on it. I'm glad I did as its quite clearly another individual with AAX on its leg. Fortunately I know who to ask. So watch this space!!

The male Stonechat and his.........

...........mate. I was a bit surprised to hear the male singing from the bushes as I arrived on the beach.

And the fem/juv Black Redstart is still here as well.

And the "Beach" Chiffchaff is still present and there is...........

...........another individual by the huts, who seems to be doing okay.

General Shots:

A little bit more than a half moon.
