Chesil Beach and Portland Bill

Well Storm Ciarán certainly put in an appearance today, not just with gusts reaching 73mph on Portland, but also flooding the Portland Beach Road for 6 hours.

So not wanting to miss an opportunity for a photo or two, I had a look at Chesil Beach from the car park at New Ground and then headed down to The Bill where there were very few seabirds to be seen.

Birds Recorded:
4 Gannet
3 Cormorant
8 Shag
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull

An adult Shag and a juvenile right behind

Herring Gulls braving..........

...........the storm. Unlike yesterday when there many birds close in, today was hard work trying to find anything close in. I only saw 4 Gannets and they were a long way out.

General Shots:

This is almost low tide........

And Storm Ciarán is still kicking up...........

..............some big waves onto Chesil Beach. The beach road has just opened after being closed to flooding for 6 hours. And now of course there is a bit of a tailback of traffic trying to get off the island.

Ted:

Ted is just about keeping his feet on the ground. That's why I still have his lead attached.
