With permission from Boatfolk, I was permitted to check on Star and get rid of any bilge that might have accumulated in the bottom of the boat. I'm glad I did now, as there was a fair few litres of rain water sitting there well above the bilge pumps. Well we have had a fair bit of rain lately.
While the engine was ticking over, I had a scan around the marina, but sadly there wasn't a lot about and the best I could do were a dozen or so Herring Gulls and a couple of Cormorants.
Once the boat was sorted, it was a quick exercise walk with Ted along the esplanade towards Portland Castle and then doubling back to the car. En-route there were several Pied Wagtails along the pathway and at Portland Castle beach there was a Turnstone feeding amongst the washed up seaweed.
Here are a few images and videos from today:
And another 1st Winter with an adult.
Along the path and on the beach here.......
...........at Portland Castle there were several Pied Wagtails running around.
Also on the beach was this Turnstone..........
............feeding in amongst the seaweed.
A short break before carrying on with what Turnstones do best and that is...............
...........flicking stones, pebbles and seaweed out the way.........
...........to find any invertebrates hidden away for a snack.
I'm trying to figure out whether.............
..........Ted is just very vain and wants to show off his...........
best sides or he's being very vigilant and checking to see what is out there to our Starboard, Bow and our Port.
Birds Recorded: 2 Cormorant, 1 Turnstone, Herring Gull, 4 Pied Wagtail, Robin and Magpie
