Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Church Ope Cove Wood, Penn's Weare, Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle and Mermaid Track
A much sunnier day, though there was absolutely no let up in the gale force wind from the east, or the freezing temperatures either. It was pretty raw out there today.
All the action was at the cove again, but this time there were 100+ Herring Gulls, at least 5 Common Gulls and 4 Black-headed Gulls all feeding just beyond the first couple of breakers. Further out to sea I noted a couple of Gannets heading south.
On the beach there were just 6 Rock Pipits today.
Here are a few images and videos from today:
There is certainly no let up as the wind from the east keeps pushing those waves up the beach.
The sea looked even rougher than yesterday.
The waves just keep on crashing onto the beach.
Three Herring Gulls and a Common Gull (top right)
Four Herring Gulls and what I believe to be a 3rd-Winter bird below the three adults.
Here's another view of the 3rd-Winter Herring Gull!!!
Another Common Gull with an adult Herring Gull on its tail.
Herrings Gulls and a few Common Gulls
Herring Gulls, Common Gulls and Black-headed Gulls
It seems, it's only the Black-headed Gulls that like to land on the beach.
Not as many Rock Pipits today, with just............
..........six seen. And for a change all of them were in the South-east corner of the cove.
Interesting to note that they were feeding amongst the rocks and not the pebbles, which would suggest the Kelp Flies were well hidden under the pebbles today.
And he can fly through the air.
And here is showing off his clean fluffy head. Nice pose Ted.
