Perryfields Butterfly Reserve, Church Ope Car Park, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Wakeham Railway Cuttings and Wakeham Wood

Can the weather get any worse. This morning was atrocious with heavy rain right up until midday. At least it eased off and I got a chance to get out and have a look to see what was about.

I have a set route at the moment which takes me along the Railway Cuttings, the Butterfly Reserve, through Church Ope car park and down through Penns Wood. From here I carry on down to the beach via St Andrew's Church and then it's back up to the wood again and then along the Railway Cuttings, where instead of turning left I take a right and through Wakeham Wood.

On my first leg of my walk there wasn't too much about, other than a Blackcap, a Firecrest and 2 Brambling in Penns Wood, however on the return visit to the wood the "Eastern" Lesser Whitethroat put in an appearance. It really does like the tall Cypress tree at the top end of the wood and also feeding on the Sycamores close by. Also on my return leg here were 3 Chiffchaffs.

On my return through the Cuttings a small flock of 8 Long-tailed Tits was joined by 2 Goldcrests and a Firecrest.
Here is a breakdown of the birds recorded today.
