Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Perryfields Butterfly Reserve, Church Ope Car Park, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Church Ope Cove Wood and Wakeham Wood

A dry day at long last and an early start to see what was around. I had a good start with a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Firecrest on my way down through Penns Wood and on my return journey an hour later I managed to get the "Eastern" Lesser Whitethroat again.

Also in the wood around 20+ Long-tailed Tits and lots of crests with around 6 Goldcrests and 5 Firecrests. Quite a few Chaffinches here and also one possibly 2 Brambling. Overhead were 2 Siskin and a Grey Wagtail.

At the back of the cove were 2 Chiffchaffs. Also here were 6 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Goldcrest and a Firecrest.

Also recorded:

Wakeham Railway Cuttings: 5 Long-tailed Tit

Wakeham Wood: 5 Greenfinch and 3 Redwing

Despite the lack of sun a Red Admiral was on the wing at the back of the cove.

Here are a few images from today:

The "Eastern" Lesser Whitethroat in its favourite Cypress Tree.

If its not in the Cypress then it can found feeding in the Sycamores close by. A very busy bird.

Also in Penns wood there was a Brambling. Not an easy bird to photograph, let alone locate in the upper canopy. There were probably two birds.

A Chiffchaff at the back of the cove. Very white throat and strong supercilium. Siberian would be nice!!!

A Redwing in Wakeham Wood. There were 3 here today.

A German Wasp

And 2 Common Wasps.
