Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Perryfield Butterfly Reserve, Church Ope Car park, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church and Church Ope Cove

A nice bright start to the day and no wind for a change.

My first stop was the Railway Cuttings where there were 2 Firecrests, a Goldcrest and a small flock of 7 Long-tailed Tits. As I walked up to Perryfields a Fieldfare flew north.

In Church Ope Car Park a flock of Long-tailed Tits were chattering away and as I crossed the road, they did the same and headed off down into Penns Wood.

Main highlight in the wood was a Yellow-browed Warbler. It showed quite well at first, but was "chased" off by a Goldcrest. As I tried following it with the binoculars it disappeared off towards the Museum.

Also in the woods were 3 Firecrests, 6+ Goldcrest, 2 Chiffchaffs and a large flock of 20+ Long-tailed Tits. A male Blackcap showed briefly as did a Great Spotted Woodpecker. Overhead I had 2 Siskin, a Redpoll and a Brambling.

Next stop was the Cove where it was good to see more Rock Pipits than of late. The last few days has been dire with just 1's and 2's, today there were 16, along with a juvenile Pied Wagtail and an adult Grey Wagtail. Out to sea 2 Oystercatchers passed by.

Having left the beach I opted to revisit Penns wood and as I did so the Yellow-browed Warbler had returned. Several times it called, but was eventually drowned out by the sound of a chainsaw close-by.

Here are a few images from today:

Good to see the Rock Pipits back on the beach.

The past few days there have only been 1's and 2's.

Today there were 16.

Also here a juvenile Pied Wagtail

Over the cove a Buzzard.

Not in Penns Wood (where I usually find Harlequins) but the Railway Cuttings. These two...........

........are variations of the form succinea

Just the one Wall Lizard seen today in the church grounds. A juvenile minus a bit of his tail.
