Tramway Track and Tout Quarry

This getting to be a bit of a routine now. A visit to the recycling centre followed by a walk to Tout Quarry and back via the old Tramway Track.

Todays highlights were both moths with an Oak Eggar sat on the edge of the track and a Hummingbird Hawkmoth nectaring on the Red Valerians.

The butterflies were impressive as well, with 12 species recorded with Adonis Blues, Grayling and Wall Browns the pick of the bunch.

And  I have a new bees species to add to my Port & Wey list.

A nice surprise as I was walking along the Tramway Track was this................

A worker Red-tailed Bumblebee Bombus lapidarius on Common Ragwort Jacobaea vulgaris

Also on the Common Ragwort was this Spined Mason Bee Osmia spinulosa

Obsidentify is 99% sure this is a Giant Blood Bee Sphecodes albilabris and Google Lens gave a very positive ID. My first ever.
