Portland Bird Observatory, Crown Estate Fields, Obs Quarry, Portland Bill and Hut Fields

A change of scenery today with a trip to the Observatory and Portland Bill. Despite the calmer seas and lighter winds there wasn't that much about on the migrant front, other than a good handful of Willow Warblers and a couple of Chiffchaffs around the observatory.

And a first for the year, a Pheasant in the Crown Estate Fields. How on earth have I gone 3 months without seeing one!!

The Races and hundreds of gulls and Gannets fishing.

One of the Gannets eventually came fairly close to the Bill for a photo.

Quite extraordinary but it is what it is, my first Pheasant of the year in the Crown Estate Fields. I'm sure I must have seen one before now, but I can't find any record of having done so!!

A few weeks ago the Razorbills outnumbered the Guillemots.

Today it was all Guillemots and not a single Razorbill seen.

A Stock Dove in The Obs Garden and for comparison .........

...........a Wood Pigeon.

The pair of Little Owls in the Obs Quarry.

On the way back from the walk there was just this one, looking very interested in something up above.

One of the Willow Warblers around the Obs

And a brute of a bird, a Raven strutting around the Lobster Pot restaurant.
