Wakeham

When the Herring Gulls make an absolute racket, you can be pretty certain there is raptor flying through their airspace. Having missed out on a couple of Ospreys, I wasn't going to ignore the din from outside. And sure enough, not an Osprey, but a Red Kite slowly making its way north-east towards "The Grove".

A Red Kite making its way.............

..............north-east up the island. My first this year.

Ferrybridge Sandflats

On the way back from Weymouth I dropped into Ferrybridge to see the Little Terns. Unlike a couple of days ago when there were several flying about, today I only recorded a pair.

Also here were at least 30 Sandwich Terns, which after having a "brush up" flew off down the Fleet leaving just 18 on the sandflats.

A third species of tern was also here, with 2 Common Terns making their way east towards Lodmoor no doubt
