Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows and Wakeham Wildlife Site

Today was a repeat of yesterdays glorious weather, and with it some new species to add to my Portland list of invertebrates. They were a Common Spiny Digger Wasp (Oxybelus uniglumis), a  Black-horned Smoothtail (Epistrophe grossulariae) and a Yellow-winged Blacklet (Cheilosia impressa).

And the Chiffchaff was back!, but this time singing from Old Quarry Lane

On the left is the Black-horned Smoothtail (Epistrophe grossulariae) and on the right a very scary looking male Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis).

In the centre of this Provence Rose (Rosa gallica) is.........

.................. a Crab Spider (Misumena vatia). Well it was in the centre until I got a bit too close.
