Portland Bill

It was a late afternoon walk around the Bill today, in very blustery conditions with gusts up to 35mph from the south-west.

Birds species were very few, though there were plenty of Guillemots out to sea, but yet again I didn't see any Razorbills.

Other highlights were 8 Rock Pipits and a female Black Redstart. The latter just east of the lighthouse on the rocks.

Birds Recorded:
2 Gannet
5 Cormorant
2 Shag
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
40+ Guillemot
Wood Pigeon
8 Rock Pipit
1 Black Redstart
Magpie
Carrion Crow
30+ Jackdaw
2 Raven
50+ Starling

Just two Gannets seen this afternoon. However..........

...................there were a good forty plus Guillemots going back and forth around The Bill.

It wasn't until I edited this photograph of this Rock Pipit, that I realised it had a BTO metal ring on its right leg. Unfortunately it was too far away to read it.

This female Black Redstart was feeding on the rocks to the east of the lighthouse.....

...............when it was attacked by a Rock Pipit. (Video slowed down to show the attack)
