Lower Horse Paddock, Higher Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve, The Grove,
Governors Garden, Grove Cliffs, East Weares, The Cuttings and Bumpers Lane

What a miserable day. Not just with the incessant drizzle, but also when I stopped under the Grove Cliffs, where Ted yet again had another funny turn, and tried desperately to run off; exactly like last year when he legged it home.

I have no idea what triggers it, but for whatever reason, Ted either hears or smells something that really scares him. Fortunately I was prepared this time and had his lead on. But it did mean I had to curtail my walk and ended up almost running home with him.

As I type this, he is fast asleep on his bed.

Despite the drama I did at least do a rough count of the Fulmar nests I could see, with at least 15 noted. These were either with pairs sat together or single birds watching their mates flying close to the cliffs. No doubt there were many more hidden away.

Another reason for visiting Grove Cliffs was to see if there were any Peregrines about. But with the weather closing in and misting up my binoculars, plus Ted pulling me along at speed, it was impossible to see any.
