Wakeham

After yesterdays cloudy and often showery day, it was back to wall to wall blue skies today, with temperatures reaching 26°C.

And for the first time in quite awhile we had a butterfly in the garden, a Small Whites I think!!

There are still 3 Azure Damselflies flitting about the garden, with 2 males on the lavender and a male on the "Bath" pond.

A male Azure Damselfly by the "Bath" pond and.........

........another male on the Lavender


Butterflies Recorded:
Small White (90% sure) or Green-veined White

A bit of a school boy error here. I managed two........

..............underwing shots but not from above, which would have helped in the ID of this butterfly. As the veins don't look as dark as that of a Green-veined White, I'm opting for a Small White. More here for similar looking butterflies.


Bees Recorded:
4 Honey Bees (Apis mellifera)
1 Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris)


Hoverflies Recorded:
10+ Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus)
3 Narcissus Bulb Fly (Merodon equestris)

20+ Semaphore Fly (Poecilobothrus nobilitatus)


Bugs and Beetles Recorded:
8 Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis)
3 Rosemary Beetle (Chrysolina americana)

The Swollen-thighed Beetles do like sitting in the Californian Poppies

Or in this case on a Sycamore leaf'
