Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve and Bumpers Lane

It was another late afternoon walk, as I had a trip to Specsavers late morning in Weymouth. Apart from a small change to my eyesight, which will mean another pair of reading glasses, it went very well. I even had a free hearing test and passed that with flying colours, just don't tell my other half 😂😂

I say I had a walk, I didn't really walk that far as the main highlights were in Broadcroft Quarry Lane with a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Dunnock, 2 Robin, 2 Blackbirds,  a Song Thrush, 7 Chiffchaff, 3 Great Tit, 2 Blue Tit, a Wren, 7 Magpie, 2 Carrion Crow, 5 Chaffinch and 10 Goldfinch all recorded here.

Other highlights were 3 Stonechat (a pair and a lone female) plus 3 Meadow Pipits all in the Lower Horse Paddock.

Just the one Red Admiral seen and would you believe it two Rush Veneer moths!!!

Today was the first day this Autumn I didn't see any Ivy Bees. Though there aren't that many Ivy clad bushes along this particular walk.

The German Wasps along Bumpers Lane are still very active.

On this Dog Rose are two "Robin's Pincushions" on the far left stem......

.........The "pincushion" is a gall caused by the larvae of a tiny gall wasp called Dipoloepis rosaea. More on this gall Here.
