Just the one Speckled Wood seen this afternoon

A Meadow Brown hunkered down in the undergrowth.

Moths Recorded:
Slender Rufous Tortrix (Lathronympha strigana)

This could possibly be a Slender Rufous Tortrix (Lathronympha strigana). It's not one I have recorded before, but it is in the right habitat, the right time of year and it feeds on St. John's-wort (Hypericum maculatum) which is close-by.

This is a Toothed Tiger Ichneumon Wasp (Amblyteles armatorius)

A new Ichneumon Wasp (Ischnus inquisitorius) ....

........for my P&W list. Obsidentify gave this a 36% for this shot and 100% for the one above. I'll take that.

This an Ichneumonid wasp (Diplazontine sp.) with...........

.........many similar looking species. Obsidentify couldn't help with this one.

There have been a few years on Portland when numbers of 7-spot Ladybirds (Coccinella septempunctata) have been pretty poor.............

............ This Summer I have seen dozens and better still very few Harlequin Ladybirds (Harmonia axyridis), which outcompete our resident ladybirds.

A three more 7-spot Ladybirds (Coccinella septempunctata) on a Mallow sp.

A Trivial Plant Bug (Closterotomus trivialis) with three flower bugs and a black ant for company.

And another Trivial Plant Bug (Closterotomus trivialis) this time in a Dog Rose (Rosa canina) flower.
