Portland Bill

Todays walk was around The Bill. Though it nearly got scuppered, as a huge black cloud passed overhead and a few drops of rain began to fall. Fortunately it didn't last long and though it was pretty overcast, it did at least remain dry.

My quarry today was to find Gannet, Oystercatcher, Razorbill, Guillemot and Rock Pipit. I wasn't too sure about Purple Sandpipers, but I got lucky as there were two just below the obelisk, which I came across very briefly. And as you can see I managed all six species.

Birds Recorded:
5 Gannet
Cormorant
Shag
2 Kestrel
2 Oystercatcher
2 Purple Sandpiper
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Razorbill
Guillemot
Wood Pigeon
2 Rock Pipit
2 Pied Wagtail
Magpie
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
Starling
House Sparrow
20+ Goldfinch

Three Cormorants making their way around The Bill.

An Oystercatcher resting up on one of the rocks.

In very poor light this was the best photograph I could manage with this Purple Sandpiper.

Fortunately my camera.................

A Rock Pipit sporting a BTO leg ring. Unfortunately I wasn't able to read it.
