Old Quarry Lane and Wakeham Meadows

It was a 7 o'clock walk this evening around the lane and meadows. Unfortunately it was pretty chilly, in a strong south-westerly, gusting at around 35mph which made it difficult to find anything of interest. At least Ted had a good run out.

Butterflies Recorded:
2 Meadow Brown
2 Marbled White
1 Red Admiral

These were the only two..........

.............Marbled Whites I could find.

1 Red-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius)
1 Common Carder (Bombus pascuorum)


Hoverflies Recorded:
Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus)


Bugs and Beetles Recorded:
Common Red Soldier Beetles (Rhagonycha fulva)
Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis)

Crickets and Grasshoppers Recorded:
There were plenty of crickets and grasshoppers, but impossible to photograph in the wind.


Plants:
Provence Rose (Rosa gallica)

In just over a week the number of flowers has doubled on this Provence Rose
