Swannery Car Park, Radipole

As I was in Weymouth this afternoon, I dropped into the Swannery Car Park  to check out the gulls. There has been an adult Yellow-legged Gull in the car park yesterday, sadly not today, but there were a dozen or so Herring Gulls, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls and several Black-headed Gulls.

Sadly a Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Herring Gull were covered in oil.

Here are a few images from this afternoon:

Not to many gulls here this afternoon. In the background 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, far right an adult Great Black-backed Gull and the remainder Herring Gulls of different ages.

Six Black-headed Gulls, all moulting into their Summer 'black' hoods.

The 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and in the foreground 2 Herring Gulls.

An adult Great Black-backed Gull

And a 1st winter Great Black-backed Gull

Sadly one of the Lesser Black-backed Gulls was covered in oil as was.............

Wakeham

Storm Erik hit the south coast today with gusts up to 50 mph. Not my photo but this was taken at around 8:00am this morning. Click Here

The feeders in the back garden were pretty quiet and the only birds to visit were a couple of hardy Great Tits.
