Wakeham

Just two very brief sightings of the female Blackcap on the suet pellets this morning, and then she disappeared. I checked the feeders a few times this afternoon but didn't see her return. This was her 21st day here in the back garden but was it her final day. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out!!

Lots of other birds about with 2 Blue Tits, 3 Great Tits and a Robin on the feeders. A charm of 18 Goldfinches flew over the Cottage, of which 2 came to the feeders. There were 3 Chaffinches in the Cherry Tree in the garden, but flew off north. And 2 Linnets passed overhead, the first sighting of this finch for quite awhile.

A Goldcrest appeared in the garden briefly this afternoon and new arrivals to the feeders were 2 Magpies feeding on the seeds dropped under the feeders, where unfortunately "Roland" Rat was also seen. Well at least the seeds were being mopped up by the Magpies.

An unusual sighting was a male Pheasant which flew diagonally over the back garden and disappeared down Wakeham. Also overhead a Buzzard being seen off by the local Herring Gulls.

A bit further down the gardens at the back a Great Spotted Woodpecker was calling and also a bit closer a Collared Dove in the Sycamore at the back of the neighbours garden.

Well there's no doubting that the suet pellets are a big hit with the birds visiting the garden. Here is one of the 2 local Robins............

.......and one of the 2 Blue Tits making the most of those pellets.

The feeders were getting a bit low so I topped them up and removed a couple. The peeled peanuts weren't being looked at and another fatball feeder wasn't either. So a quick re-positioning was done once I'd topped the feeders up.

A male Great Tit on the sunflower seeds.

And then on the suet pellets.

The Robin came back later and looked inquisitively at the suet pellets.

Two new species to the garden - Magpies. Not strictly on the feeders but certainly benefiting from them.

One of three Chaffinches in the Cherry Tree.

And the second Robin has a quick look from the neighbours Buckthorn.

A Collared Dove in the Sycamore

This Buzzard made a hasty retreat after being mobbed by the local Herring Gulls.

And finally a micro moth, I managed one shot and then it flew off. As to what it is I haven't the foggiest.
