Wakeham Wood, Penns Wood and Church Ope Cove

It was one of those days when it was darker at midday than first thing in the morning. It really was murky, but at least it was dry.

Main highlights were 11 Redwing in Wakeham Wood, 2 Redwing in Penns Wood and the overwintering Black Redstart, Stonechat and Chiffchaff in Church Ope Cove, where there were also 22 Rock Pipits and 5 Wrens on the beach.

Also recorded were 2 Goldcrests in Penns Wood where there were also 15+ Chaffinches.

Here are a few images from today:

The Stonechat and...............

..........Black Redstart were on the huts today and feeding in amongst the brambles and Hebes behind them.

The beach huts at the cove and feeding in the Hebes (in front of the white toilet block) was this..........

........Chiffchaff. Not the best of images but you can see the distance I was taking it from and in very lowlight.

A bit closer were these Wrens.

And another.

On the way back home I came across this Kestrel peering down into Penns Weare.
