Wakeham
As the rain clouds moved away, so an opportunity to stretch the legs and a walk down to Church Ope Cove and back. Not surprisingly there wasn't a lot about as the trees, bushes and flowers were drenched.

There were a few Bumblebees about mainly Common Carder and White-tailed Bumblebees. I also came across a Marmalade Hoverfly and a strange looking beetle, which I just managed to photograph before it disappeared into the ivy at Rufus Castle. Just one butterfly seen, a Painted Lady heading towards Church Ope Cove as i was going up the steps towards rufus Castle.

Just a handful of few birds about with a Kestrel on a rocky ledge overlooking Church Ope Cove where there was also a solitary House Martin. Out to sea several Herring Gulls and a Great Black-backed Gull following in a fishing boat.

A female Kestrel overlooking the cove.

Several Common Carder bees seen this evening.

A Marmalade Hoverfly

Hmm not sure what this is. It was about 25mm long, light brown and had long antenna's.

A fishing boat returns to Weymouth Harbour......

.....and judging by the gulls following I would say they had a good day out.

The Fleet
At around 11:15am as the tide began to turn at high water, so the waders moved in. Difficult to count how many, but there were lots of Dunlin and Ringed Plovers along the waters edge. Also seen were 2 Oystercatchers and a few Mediterranean Gulls in amongst the Black-headed Gulls.
