After a lovely trip to Bristol this afternoon, where the family and I celebrated the Golden Wedding Anniversary of my cousins Marion and Jim, it was off out this evening for a walk down to Church Ope Cove via the quarry at the back of the Cottage. Not too many birds about, and certainly no insects seen though there were several crickets heard.
Most the activity was out to sea where there were dozens of Gannets feeding close to The Shambles.
Other birds noted were 2 Fulmar, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, 1 House Martin, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Great Tit, Wren, Carrion Crow, House Sparrow and Goldfinch.
The only new addition to my 2017 Bird List was a Hobby, sadly not over Portland but seen flying over the road just before Bristol airport.

One of many Gannets just off The Shambles
Very similar to "Snapdragons", this lovely yellow flower is..............
.......... "Common Toadflax" (Linaria vulgaris) and also goes by the names of "Yellow Toadflax" and "Butter-and-eggs"
