Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows, Wakeham Wildlife Site, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Glen Caravan Park, The Mermaid Track and Wakeham Railway Cuttings (east)

Well so much for the forecast of dry weather until early afternoon. As soon as I set foot outside, at 10:30am, it was already precipitating with mizzle, which eventually turned into drizzle by the time I got home at 12:30pm.

Main highlights today, which I think were pretty good, considering there were no Long-tailed Tits* about were:

Wakeham Meadow: 2 Chiffchaff
Wakeham Railway Cuttings: 4 Blackbirds, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrests
Glen Caravan Park: 1 male Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 18 Chaffinch
Mermaid Track: 1 Chiffchaff, 5 Goldcrests

Despite the rain there were still a few Common Wasps about.

And as I write this report up, a message on the local birders Whats App group, has just announced that the recent/new Yellow-browed Warbler was seen at 12:54pm 😂. Yep you've guessed it, along Wakeham Railway Cuttings. Oh well at least it's still about.

Mammals Recorded:
2 Grey Squirrel

I have absolutely no idea...........

..........what this Grey Squirrel is eating. It looks a bit like a stone!. Whatever it is, he's not sharing it with anyone.

And this Grey Squirrel was watching me intensely from one of the apple trees.

These Chiffchaffs are getting harder to photograph, even though there are less leaves on the trees and bushes!

There weren't so many Goldcrests today, but...........

...............eight is still pretty good.

With so many Goldcrests, it was a bit odd that there weren't any Firecrests in amongst them

A Wren sheltering from the rain

This male Chaffinch was just one of the 18 Chaffinches seen along Wakeham Railway Cuttings

One of many Goldfinches seen this morning.
