My visit here this afternoon was to see the male Snow Bunting seen at Fig Quarry roughly here. However when I arrived at the Portland Bird Observatory (Obs), I was told it had moved further south by some 200 metres or so here close to the crane..
Unfortunately by the time I arrived at its latest location it had moved again. In fact I had returned to the Obs only to find out that it had pitched up on the rocks directly behind the Obs here.
So it was a quick dash down the track, but as luck would have it, I had missed it yet again. This time by 5 minutes. I carried on down to the Red Crane until dusk, but without any joy.
Below are a few photos of the Rock Pipits I came across on my walk. Quite a few are ringed birds with a couple ringed as ALA and ALV.
