Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows, Wakeham Wildlife Site, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, The Mermaid Track and Wakeham Railway Cuttings (east)

It was back on my patch today, after a couple of days of walking around the Bill, and I wasn't disappointed as I managed to find 3 Chiffchaffs and 2 Goldcrests, along my walk.

Also noted was an increase in Chaffinch numbers with dozens of birds seen and heard, especially in the trees along Old Quarry Lane and Wakeham Railway Cuttings.

Just three Chiffchaffs seen today. This one and......................

........this one were along Wakeham Railway Cuttings and.....

...............this third bird was close to the Wakeham Wildlife Site.

Along the Mermaid Track were these........

...........two Goldcrests.

And in the Sycamores Acer pseudoplatanus along Wakeham Railway Cuttings were these Goldfinches.

Wasps, Ichneumon Wasps, Parasitic Wasps and Gall Wasps Recorded:
1 Common Wasp Vespula vulgaris


Plants:

Common Hawkweed Hieracium vulgatum still in flower, with a bed of Common Nettle Urtica dioica behind it. Far left are a few burrs (seed heads) of one of the burdock family, possibly Lesser Burdock Arctium minus
