Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadows, Wakeham Wildlife Site, Wakeham Railway Cuttings and Glen Caravan Park

Well I didn't walk far today as when I reached the caravan park, a flock of 9 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Blue Tits, 2 Chiffchaffs and 7 Goldcrests suddenly appeared along Wakeham Railway Cutting and were heading back along the old railway track from where I had just been.

I had already noted 4 Goldcrests and 2 Chiffchaffs in the Railway Cuttings and when I decided to double back, it was absolute bedlam, especially with the Goldcrests as they swapped from one side of the cuttings to the other. Also on my return here was a male Blackcap.

However in amongst this party was an unexpected surprise in the form of a Yellow-browed Warbler, which was proving extremely difficult to photograph as it kept fairly high up in the Sycamores. At long last my first for this Autumn.

Once again there were quite a few Blackbirds about and in the main meadow were two Greenfinches. It's been awhile since I have recorded the latter.

And this afternoon there were many Common Wasps about, which was also a surprise considering there have only been one's and two's seen lately.
