Portland Royal Naval Cemetery

It was a return trip to the cemetery this morning, in the hope of finding a few Ivy Bees. But yet again the flowering Ivy was void of any and instead there were hundreds of hoverflies and wasps "buzzing" about.

Spot the Common Nettle-tap moth on the Blackberries.

Common Carder Bumblebee (Bombus pascuorum)
Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)

Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) on the flowering Ivy (Hedera helix)

And another Buff-tailed Bumblebee, this time a very faded individual on Common Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris)

Bottom left and top right are Common Droneflies with a Common Wasp between them.

On the left a Hornet Plumehorn and on the right a Dead Head Hoverfly

7-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata)
Dock Bug (Coreus marginatus)

A 7-spot Ladybird in amongst the Ivy and Brambles

And a Dock Bug nymph.

There are two sides to a Garden Spider. The passive side and.....

............and the business end, as it devours a small insect.

Ivy (Hedera helix)

With the Ivy now in flower, there were hundreds of hoverflies and wasps.
