Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove,  Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle and the Museum

It seems ever other day is a sunny day. However even though the sun was out, there were a couple of showers that Ted and I got caught out with.

Main highlights today were the fem/juv Black Redstart still at the cove, 3 Chiffchaffs at the back of the cove and a Goldcrest in Penn's Copse.

The 30+ Rock Pipits on the beach Wednesday and Thursday, has now dropped to just 8. Similarly there was just 1 Pied Wagtail not 2, 2 Wrens not 5 and no sign of the Grey Wagtail.

Birds Recorded:
Gannet

Using the Gull Research Organisation's Website Here, I reckon this is a 2cy (December) Herring Gull.

Here are a few flight shots of it

And another.

Last one.

Feeding on the rocks in the north-east corner of the cove were these 2 Oystercatchers and another close by.

This individual is in its Winter colours, indicated by the white collar. Something I wasn't aware of until my good friend Ed Wilson enlightened me. You're never to old to learn new things. More on Oystercatchers Here.

There was a lot of rock hopping as the waves crashed onto the rocks they were feeding on.

This Oystercatcher was running down to the waters edge to feed and then running back up the rock as the waves came crashing in. And yes its raining.

Just the 8 Rock Pipits on the beach this afternoon.

The female/juvenile Black Redstart was still present at the cove.

Here the Black Redstart is feeding on the south facing cliff at the cove

Behind the Beach Huts were 3 Chiffchaffs calling, with this one showing....

...........quite well in amongst the Ivy.

A very short video of one of the three Chiffchaffs at the back of the cove.

And another video of it feeding in amongst the Ivy

General Shots:

There's the rain on its way......

.....yet looking northwest there was still blue sky behind Rufus Castle
