Lodmoor RSPB Reserve

An hour or so spent at Lodmoor RSPB Reserve this afternoon, and a lot of new birds for my Port and Wey list. The weather was pretty miserable and the low-light didn't help with my photos. At least the heavy rain eased off.

The main highlight was the great views of a Great White Egret that came in close to the pool in front of me. It was making good use of the pools and was seen flying from one pool to the next. A Black-tailed Godwit was also fairly close-in and apart from another individual there was also a flock of 7 birds flying around the reserve.

Other birds of note were: 2 Shelduck, 3 Teal, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Lapwing, 5 Dunlin, 9 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Redshank, 2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher, 1 female Blackcap, and a Willow Warbler.

Here are a few images from today:

A superb reserve to visit, with lots of pools, bars and reed beds.

Not only was I able to photograph this majestic bird, but also video it.
