Rufus Castle
A slightly different walk this evening, with more emphasis around the quarry behind Bumpers Lane before heading down to Rufus castle and back home.

Millions "flying" ants out this evening, with queens and workers filling the sky. And several Common Blues. Also Large & Small Skippers, Ringlets, Gatekeepers, Marbled Whites, Large Whites, 3 Red Admirals and Meadow Browns.

A couple of Six-spot Burnet moths were seen and also a Silver-Y.

Above Rufus Castle a Common Lizard sat in the wall soaking up the last of the evening sun.

Birds recorded were: Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Swift, House Martin, Swallow, Pied Wagtail,
Dunnock, Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, 9 Jackdaw, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet and Goldfinch.
